Combining technical expertise, commercial ownership and people leadership, this role offers the chance to do far more than oversee projects. You’ll have the platform to influence strategy, develop new client propositions, build a high-performing team and play a leading role in helping the industry navigate an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

If you’re ready to turn your expertise into something bigger, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

The Role

As Head of Building Safety, you’ll take the lead in developing and expanding the consultancy’s in-occupation building safety service, becoming a trusted adviser to clients responsible for occupied higher-risk buildings. You’ll help clients understand and fulfil their regulatory obligations, providing expert guidance on safety case reports, Building Assessment Certificates, remediation oversight and ongoing building safety responsibilities.

Alongside your technical remit, you’ll have the autonomy to shape the service’s future, identify emerging market needs and turn regulatory developments into new commercial opportunities. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across Building Regulations Principal Designer and design and construction services, helping deliver an integrated, forward-thinking offering to clients.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical credibility, strategic thinking and commercial ambition, and who wants to see the tangible results of their leadership.

You will need to bring:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regulations, Approved Document B and relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Significant UK experience across building safety and fire safety, with a strong track record in a senior or leadership position.
  • Consultancy experience, including client advisory, fee-earning team management and commercial delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with occupied buildings, including safety cases, Accountable Person responsibilities and remediation oversight.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing technical professionals.
  • A strong network across the London property and construction market, including developers, real estate funds, contractors and building control bodies.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body, such as IFE, RICS, CIOB, CABE or RIBA.
  • Working knowledge of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role and the ability to collaborate across building safety advisory and design and construction projects.

The Bigger Picture

The building safety landscape continues to evolve, creating significant opportunities for consultancies that can offer clients the right expertise, insight and support. This role puts you at the heart of that opportunity. You’ll have the scope to influence how services are delivered, develop new capabilities, strengthen market relationships and build a team ready for what comes next.
