A leading organisation within the space sector is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support the development and delivery of advanced space systems. Working as part of a growing Product Assurance team, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet stringent quality and reliability requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Project teams to drive quality from design through to delivery, helping ensure products can operate reliably in some of the world's most demanding environments.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement quality and product assurance programmes and control plans across the supply chain from design through to delivery.
- Perform quality assurance activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from requirements definition through to qualification and delivery.
- Coordinate Quality Management System (QMS) activities in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements, including the development of procedures and quality records.
- Manage internal audit programmes and ensure findings are translated into operational improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet quality standards and that a strong quality culture is embedded throughout the business.
- Support supplier qualification, onboarding and ongoing quality performance management activities.
- Lead non-conformance and anomaly investigations from identification through to closure.
- Establish and maintain quality metrics and KPIs to provide measurable insight into business performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Electronics or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years' experience within Quality Assurance.
- Experience within the space or aerospace sectors, ideally supporting the design, manufacture, test, qualification and delivery of complex engineering products.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, supplier quality, auditing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting quality assurance activities throughout the full product development lifecycle.
- Proven experience investigating failures, non-conformances and quality issues using recognised quality tools and methodologies.
- Experience developing and reporting quality metrics and operational KPIs.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ECSS, ESA, NASA, EASA, IPC, JEDEC or MIL-STD would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of electronics, PCB assemblies, optical systems, satellite payloads, space hardware or advanced aerospace systems would be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and project teams.
