A large, international professional and financial services organisation is seeking an Interim Target Operating Model Lead to provide urgent, hands-on analytical support to the IT Director on a critical and delayed IT Target Operating Model (TOM) programme. The organisation has grown rapidly through acquisition and operates across multiple countries, resulting in a complex, federated IT landscape that is now being centralised into a group-wide operating model.
This role exists because the IT Director is completely bandwidth-constrained and needs immediate support to move the TOM from “napkin stage” into a fully defined, data-backed operating model and transition plan. This is a tactical, non-leadership, delivery-heavy analyst role – ideal for someone who loves Excel, data, and bringing structure to ambiguity. You’ll be embedded directly with senior leadership, owning the data and models that underpin key IT decisions.
Key Focus Areas
- Build and maintain a single, trusted view of the IT Target Operating Model
- Analyse and document “as-is” IT services, roles, headcount, reporting lines, and skills
- Develop and manage complex Excel models to support TOM design and transition planning
- Support financial modelling, cost impacts, and end-state scenarios
- Track and support the movement of people during the TOM execution phase
- Provide clear, decision-ready data and insight to senior IT leadership
- Coordinate inputs across IT, HR, recruitment, and transformation teams
- Support and facilitate working sessions and workshops as needed
- Keep data accurate and current in a fast-moving, incomplete-information environment
What We’re Looking For
- 4–5+ years’ experience in data analysis, TOM modelling, or operating model work
- Strong, hands-on Excel modelling capability (essential)
- Experience supporting business, IT, or service transformation initiatives
- Background in financial services or professional services is highly desirable
- Comfortable working autonomously in a high-trust, high-urgency environment
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders to validate and challenge data
- Experience with IT service models or organisational design is a strong plus
- Analytical, structured, and pragmatic – not a consultant, not a lead, but a doer
- Calm under pressure and able to turn ambiguity into clarity fast
The Details
- Contract Length: 3 months (budget-driven, with potential extension subject to review)
- Location: Fully remote
- Start Date: ASAP (they needed this yesterday)
- Interview Process: One stage, directly with the IT Director
- Focus: Rapid TOM definition, data clarity, and transition planning under tight timelines
Why This Role?
This is a high-impact, high-visibility assignment where your work directly enables senior decision-making at group level. If you enjoy being the person who brings order to chaos, lives in Excel, and quietly saves programmes from stalling – this one’s for you.
