Interim Project Manager β E-commerce Platform Migration
Contract: Outside IR35
Duration: 3β4 months
Fractional: 2-3 days per week
Location: London (1β2 days per week initially, increasing to 2β3 days during key delivery phases)
Start: August 2026
We're supporting a fast-growing direct-to-consumer business as they embark on a major e-commerce platform transformation ahead of a critical trading period later this year. This is an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of the business readiness and delivery coordination activities associated with a large-scale e-commerce replatforming programme. The technical delivery teams are already in place and moving quickly. The challenge now is ensuring the wider business keeps pace.
The Role
- Managing risks, dependencies and cross-functional coordination
- Driving business readiness activities across multiple departments
- Ensuring testing, training and operational activities are aligned to delivery timelines
- Identifying and removing blockers before they become programme issues
- Coordinating stakeholders across digital, technology and operational teams
- Providing clear project reporting and delivery oversight
- Supporting a successful go-live within an ambitious timeframe
This is not a heavily process-driven environment with large PMOs and layers of governance. Success in this role will come from being proactive, pragmatic and comfortable operating with ambiguity.
About You
- Has delivered Shopify e-commerce platform migrations or large-scale digital transformation projects
- Understands the dependencies involved in replatforming programmes
- Can operate confidently across both business and technology stakeholders
- Is comfortable in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
- Takes ownership and doesn't wait for process or governance structures to drive progress
- Is highly organised, commercially aware and action-oriented
- Can quickly identify risks and intervene before issues escalate
- Experience within direct-to-consumer, retail or digital commerce environments would be highly advantageous.
- Experience with specific e-commerce platforms is beneficial but not essential; we're more interested in candidates who understand the wider operational and business impacts of large-scale digital change.
Why Apply?
- Outside IR35 engagement
- Flexible, fractional working arrangement
- Opportunity to deliver a business-critical programme with significant visibility
- Work with a collaborative and commercially focused leadership team
- Join a growing business that moves quickly and values delivery over bureaucracy
