An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join a collaborative and highly regarded in-house legal team within a complex and fast-paced organisation. This role offers the chance to gain genuinely broad in-house exposure across commercial contracts, projects, data protection, stakeholder advisory work, and operational legal matters.

Reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, supporting a variety of legal matters while developing your commercial judgement and in-house experience within a supportive environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to step into — or further develop within — an in-house legal role where curiosity, initiative, and relationship-building are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day legal support across the organisation
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts
  • Support business projects and operational initiatives
  • Assist with GDPR and data protection matters
  • Support stakeholders with legal and commercial queries
  • Review supplier, service, and customer agreements
  • Assist with complaints and general advisory work
  • Work collaboratively with teams across procurement, operations, and wider business functions
  • Build trusted relationships as a pragmatic and commercially minded advisor
About You

We’re looking for a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive who enjoys variety, collaboration, and operating within a broad in-house environment. You will likely bring:

  • Around 3–6 years PQE (flexible depending on background and experience)
  • Commercial contracts experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A pragmatic and solutions-focused mindset
  • Confidence managing a varied workload
  • The ability to operate within a fast-moving environment

This role could suit someone moving from private practice into industry, someone from a legal executive background, or someone looking for a long-term role within a supportive organisation.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be:

  • Curious and eager to learn
  • Collaborative and approachable
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic
  • Comfortable managing ambiguity
  • Proactive and dependable
  • Someone who naturally builds strong working relationships
  • Happy operating within a team-focused environment where everyone leans in to support each other

The organisation is looking for someone with the right attitude and motivation — not just technical capability.

What’s on Offer?
  • Excellent work/life balance
  • Flexible and trust-based working culture
  • Free gym access
  • Subsidised canteen and barista coffee
  • Modern refurbished offices
  • Team socials and company events
  • 5 volunteering days per year
  • Mental health and wellbeing initiatives

The wider legal team is known for being supportive, collaborative, and genuinely down-to-earth, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and shared success.

Additional Information

Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the Cheltenham office (Monday & Wednesday – non-negotiable). Salary: Circa £50,000 depending on experience.
