We're working with a rapidly growing global facilities management business undertaking a large-scale digital transformation — moving from a patchwork of heavily customised on-prem systems to a modern cloud environment.

The Situation: Phase 1 of the integration has been delivered by a third-party integrator, but Phase 2 is stalling. The business needs an experienced, independent API Developer to step in immediately, take the reins, and deliver point-to-point integrations between multiple systems.

What’s In Place: Legacy ERP, payroll, ops, and task apps — all heavily customised, SEQUEL-integrated on-prem solutions. Support for on-prem is vanishing — now moving to cloud. Azure LogicApps used in Phase 1 (with significant hidden Python dev), but re-evaluating direction for something lower-code and easier to maintain.

The Role: You’ll be the sole developer — embedded with the team but driving independently. The project is well scoped, with endpoints and field mappings defined. Your task: build and manage APIs to handle data transfer across systems. This is a chance to own the technical delivery and shape how integrations are built across the org, taking the Head of Data and CTO on the journey of the "what", "how", and "why".

Must Haves:

  • Independent mindset — able to deliver under your own steam
  • Strong experience building API integrations end-to-end
  • Able to work across systems, define and advise on best approaches
  • Comfortable working across business teams and tech stakeholders
  • Integration mindset: not just siloed development, but clear documentation and maintainable solutions

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Azure LogicApps, MS Fabric, or similar
  • Industry agnostic — ability to quickly get up to speed on systems
  • Strong communication skills — explain what you're doing, guide teams, join the dots
  • Comfortable in the “black hole” — where no one else has the answers

Contract Details:

  • Outside IR35
  • Initial 3-month contract, likely extension
  • Potential for permanent role
  • Hybrid or remote working

Urgency: This needs to move fast — there are three more integrations in the pipeline. If you’ve done this before, we’d love to hear from you.
