We have a fantastic opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join the team at HMP Huntercombe, a Category C prison, exclusively for Foreign National males. We have capacity of around 500, and offer healthcare 7 days per week. We are based in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

This is a rare opportunity to join our close knit healthcare team within pharmacy, where you will join a unique working environment, where no two days are the same! We can support you with career progression opportunities and the right support to make sure you succeed!

Hours

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts can be flexible, and we will discuss with you directly. Shift patterns are typically 07:45 - 17:00 Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 16:30 on weekends.

Salary

This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Issue medication to patients directly from the hatch on the wing, checking ID and ensuring the correct medication is given
  • Ensure medication compliance, checking medication held by patients in their cells
  • Work alongside the wider healthcare team, liaising with colleagues (including GPs) to ensure patients receive the correct medication
  • Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
  • Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies and procedures

  • An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing
  • Experience within a pharmacy environment - whether in the community, hospital or a prison / secure setting
  • Due to the location of the prison, a driver with their own vehicle would be highly desirable
