About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinical Lead to join our Mental Health team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester. To work as part of and lead the Mental Health team within the Integrated Healthcare Services team.
Hours: 37.5 hours a week working 8-4pm. No weekends.
Salary: This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £57,603 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals.
- Establish inter-agency working where necessary to ensure good communication increases quality of care for patients.
- Ensuring that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
- Based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental Health policy, provide nursing triage and screening and assessment.
- Actively participate with the development of local operating procedures to ensure pathways are clear for clinicians.
- Ensuring all complaints/concerns relating to Mental Health are dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Nurse lead treatment or care within mental health.
- Medicines management/advice including supporting medicine administration.
- Set standards for care by implementing protocols and establishing health education activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients.

Qualifications required:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
- BSc or equivalent qualification
- Experience of providing supervision
- Teaching/Mentoring experience
- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and ongoing competence in all aspects of the role
- Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
