We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in central Winchester. HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners. Although the site is close to Winchester city centre, there is onsite parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station.
Hours: Shifts are 08:00-16:00 (Monday - Sunday)
Salary: £23.83 per hour

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
- Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers
- Provide advice and information on a 1-1 basis
- Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions
- Occasionally support dispensing
- Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach

Requirements:
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration
- Experience of Substance Misuse
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
- Experience of working with opiate dependent patients
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
- Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
