About The Role
Practice Plus Group is one of England’s largest independent providers of self-pay, insured, and NHS healthcare. Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth has a CQC Good rating and provides excellent healthcare to the population of Plymouth and the south west region, including Cornwall, Isles of Scilly, and all of Devon. We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy, and cataract surgery. The clinical departments include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, 30-bed Inpatient Ward, 4 Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy, and Pharmacy, with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.

What you\’ll be doing
Providing continuous competent support and dedicated assistance, under the direct supervision of the operating surgeon, throughout the surgical procedure.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Surgical First Assistant (SFA) is responsible for assessing, evaluating, and implementing care for patients within the peri-operative phase of surgery, ensuring high standards of care.

- Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
- Surgical First Assistant Qualification
- At least 2 years theatre experience as a scrub practitioner
- Mentorship Qualification
- Evidence of competence as a scrub practitioner
- Effective management of resources, especially financial and human
- Knowledge of current research, key issues, and developments in theatre practice
- Knowledge of Health & Safety/Risk Management within the operating department
- Salary: £32,991.94 per year
- 25 days annual leave (increasing with years of employment) + bank holidays
