We have an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Full Sutton, a Category A high security prison located in Pocklington. HMP Full Sutton has a capacity of around 600 men and houses those serving long‐term sentences. Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well‐being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care.

Hours

Part‐time role, 24 hours per week, 3 × 8 hour shifts between Monday and Friday. Shifts are 8am‐4pm / 9am‐5pm.

Salary

Annual salary up to ÂŁ33,510 FTE, dependent on experience.

Main duties

  • Deliver outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback – ensuring that care is personalised and tailored to the individual.
  • Manage a caseload of patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma and more.
  • Work on a 1‐1 basis with patients, carrying out assessments.
  • Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction and related topics.
  • Provide a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments.
  • Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‐borne viruses and safe sex practices.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience within substance misuse, ideally in a prison or secure environment, and preferably in a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role.
  • Experience working within the substance misuse multi‐disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways.
  • A flexible approach and excellent communication skills.
  • A non‐judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Legal right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
