We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster, with capacity of around 550.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care.

Main duties of the job

As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, with a primary focus on group work facilitation, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Delivering outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback – ensuring that their care is personalised and tailored to the individual
  • Manage a caseload of patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
  • Deliver group sessions on overdose awareness, harm reduction etc
  • Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions
  • Developing psychosocial interventions
  • Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
  • Prepare patients for release and transfer
  • Deliver care on a 1-1 basis as well as group sessions

  • Have experience within Substance misuse, ideally a prison / secure environment, and ideally within a Recovery Worker / Practitioner role
  • Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways

Job responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a Category C male prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster, with capacity of around 550.

Hours: This is a part time role, working 18.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts are between 8am – 5pm. Salary: This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £29,264 – £33,510 FTE dependent on experience. How will we support you?
