We have an exciting opportunity for a Release and Transfer Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton, located in London. With numerous training and development pathways, free parking on site and easy links to central London, HMP Brixton offers a great and rewarding working environment!

This is a full‑time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Salary up to £45,331 per annum, depending on experience.

Candidate Requirements

  • Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis is required.
  • Offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment.
  • Provide care and planning for adult male prisoners from the point of reception until the day of release or transfer to another establishment.
  • Work collaboratively with the patient and any other agencies to support a safe transition back into the community or another establishment.

Qualifications Required

  • Registered Adult Nurse.
  • Evidence of implementation of local and national policies e.g. NICE guidance.
  • Experience demonstrating high levels of clinical expertise.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate openly, consistently and clearly.
  • Flexible attitude to working arrangements.

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
