We have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Hub Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Recovery Team at West Midlands Regional Hub Office based at HMP Oakwood Visitors Centre. As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care across three sites: HMP Oakwood, HMP Featherstone and HMP Brinsford. You will demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting individuals with substance misuse needs and a willingness to develop your knowledge and skills in this area. Previous experience in substance misuse or addiction services would be an advantage, but a strong commitment to learning and professional development is equally valued.

Hours: Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week 8am - 4pm

Salary: This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers
  • Work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information
  • Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions
  • Occasionally support dispensing
  • Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach

Qualifications:

  • Registered nurse with current NMC Adult or Mental Health
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
  • Experience of working with opiate dependent patients
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
