We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Drake Hall, a women’s closed prison located in Eccleshall, Stafford. Within this role you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including an ACP and NMP to deliver high quality healthcare services.

Job summary

Ideal applicants should have a special interest in female health and experience with LARC insertion and removal. The site aims to open a healthcare hub focusing on female-specific needs such as pregnancy, menopause and sexual health. The GP will be actively involved in these services.

Hours

Monday 8:00‑4:30, Wednesday 8:00‑4:30, Friday 8:00‑4:30

Salary

Part‑time role of 24 hours per week; salary ranges from £119,140 to £122,886 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Qualifications required

  • MBChB or MBBS
  • Included on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or preparedness to undertake these qualifications

Job responsibilities

As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways. You will prescribe for patients, regularly review medications and monitor repeat prescriptions.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team.
  • Deliver effective patient care, developing high levels of communication with patients and utilising evidence‑based best practice.
  • Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems are in place for managing results, letters and tasks.
  • Share and disseminate acquired knowledge through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or case reviews.
