About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Isle of Wight, a category B male training prison. Located on the Isle of Wight, 8 minutes from St Mary's Hospital and 26 minutes away from Cowes Ferry Terminal. In this role you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed. The site currently offers a 24-hour service and shift patterns:
- Mon - Fri - 7.30am - 5.30pm
- Sat - Sun - 8am - 5.30pm
- Parkhurst Nights - 6pm - 7.30am
- IHU long days - 7.30am - 9pm
- IHU Nights - 8.45am - 7.45pm
The shift hours are on a 4 week rolling pattern and you will be expected to work every other weekend and bank holidays. This position is full time, and you will receive an annual salary up to £43,534 per annum - depending on experience.

What you will be doing
As a Primary Care Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
- Deliver non-judgemental care
- Build strong links with our partners and stakeholders

Qualifications required:
- Registered nurse - Adult
- Current professional qualification (NMC)
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
- Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
