About The Role
Practice Plus Group is one of England's largest independent providers of self-pay, insured and NHS healthcare. Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth has a CQC Good rating and provides excellent healthcare to the population of Plymouth and the south west region, including Cornwall, Isles of Scilly and all of Devon. We are an elective surgical centre providing arthroplasty surgery, orthopaedics, general surgery, endoscopy and cataract surgery. The clinical services include Outpatients, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Ward, Theatres, Endoscopy suite, Radiography, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy with care provided by a multidisciplinary team. We are looking to recruit an experienced Pre-Assessment Nurse 12 Month FTC for our Outpatients Department. This is an exciting time to join PPG Plymouth as we are increasing our clinical activity and growing our teams. The inpatient ward primarily cares for our post-operative arthroplasty patients with some general surgery and other orthopaedic surgery patients.
What you'll be doing
As a Pre-Assessment Nurse in our Outpatients department you deliver a high standard of patient care supported by evidence based practice. The Pre-Assessment Nurse will ensure that nursing is practised within the constraints of and guided by:
- All relevant Department of Health Legislation
- NMC Code of professional conduct
- Care quality commission
- NICE guidelines
- Practice Plus Group policies and procedures
- OPD Unit specific policies and procedures
The post holder will function as a clinical practitioner within the Outpatient and Pre-assessment Service and will be responsible for the delivery of patient care, managing and organising a work load on a daily basis. The post holder will ensure effective communication in which high quality patient care is delivered.
What we'll look for in you
- Qualification: NMC Registered Nurse Part 1, ECG, Venepuncture training
- Experience: Recent experience at Band 5 or equivalent in an acute surgical setting, Experience in Orthopaedics, Experience in a pre-assessment/outpatient setting, Ability to demonstrate evidence based practice
- Skills and Knowledge: Ability to plan, allocate and evaluate own work and develop self to enhance performance of others, Ability to teach/train/develop Health Care Assistants, Report writing skills, Able to meet the needs of the patients, Prepared to undertake appropriate pre-assessment qualifications and courses
