About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B Prison located in Oxfordshire. HMP Bullingdon is a busy male prison with a capacity for around 1100 inmates. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant to support the pharmacy team with dispensing, labelling, date checking, supporting colleagues with queries, stock checking etc. This would be a patient facing role on occasions.

Hours

Monday to Friday 0830 to 1630 No weekends, no bank holidays

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stock returns from wing based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns
  • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

Qualifications required

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills
  • Medicines handling experience desirable not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
