About The Role

This role places you at the forefront of helping people in need, guiding them through critical decisions with care and professionalism. You will triage calls, provide accurate assessments, and offer non‑clinical advice using the NHS Pathways System.

Pay Rates

  • £12.65 per hour (7 am‑11 pm)
  • £15.72 per hour (11 pm‑7 am)
  • Enhanced rate of £16.27 per hour when working between Friday 18:00 and Monday 7 am

The weekend rate is a non‑contractual incentive. During training you will receive £12.65 per hour.

Working Hours

We offer part‑time shifts of 24 or 30 hours per week (possible full‑time availability of 37.5 hours). This is not a regular 9‑5 job and may include weekends and late‑night/overnight shifts. You must be able to attend shifts in our contact centre. Working location: Unit 7, Delta Terrace, West Road, Ransomes Euro Park, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 9FH.

Training and Development

We provide extensive, fully paid training to equip you with the skills to become a qualified Health Advisor and master the advanced NHS 111 triage tool. The schedule is:

  • Full‑time: Monday‑Friday (9:30 am‑5 pm) for 4 weeks
  • Part‑time: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (6 pm‑9:30 pm) and Saturday‑Sunday (9:30 am‑5 pm) for 6 weeks

Training Dates Availability

  • Part‑time course starts 10 January 2026
  • Full‑time course starts 5 January 2026

Attendance, call audits, and assessments are mandatory throughout training. Failure to pass on the second attempt will end the role.

Responsibilities

  • Initial contact – first point of contact for patients, providing time‑critical advice.
  • Triage calls – assess and prioritise a wide range of calls based on urgency.
  • Use the NHS Pathways system to ensure safe and effective assessments.
  • Provide non‑clinical advice to patients about their symptoms and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all calls.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Emotional resilience – manage difficult or distressed patients, especially in high‑pressure situations.
  • Clear communication – explain medical instructions in an easy‑to‑understand manner.
  • Decision‑making – good judgment to assess patient conditions and provide accurate advice.
  • Attention to detail – meticulous in documentation and patient information.
  • Organisational skills – manage multiple cases and prioritise urgent calls.
  • IT skills – comfortable using computer systems and new technology.
  • GCSE/Functional Skills English and Maths (or equivalent).
