We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. HMP Wymott has a capacity of around 1,100 and has a varied and complex population. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team and work in a varied environment, where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more. No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.
Please note that this is a clinical role, and we need candidates that are competent in skills such as Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc.
Hours
This is a full-time role, working night shifts. Shifts are 20:45 - 07:45 on a 2-week rota:
- Week 1 - 4 nights
- Week 2 - 3 nights
Salary
This position is full-time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum - depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
- Carry out bloods, obs, ECGs etc.
- Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc.
- Deliver personalised, non-judgemental care, based on patient feedback
- Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

Our New Healthcare Assistant Will
- Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
- Have experience within a healthcare setting - hospital, community or secure setting
- Have clinical experience, such as bloods, obs, ECGs etc.
- Any experience in primary care or inpatients would be a bonus!
- Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
