We have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Night Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Gartree, a category B prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The prison has a capacity of 1,965 male inmates.
Job Summary
The role is based within the healthcare department and may also work within the prison wing. It involves lone working during night shifts; therefore, experience of working in a secure environment where lone working has been undertaken is desirable.
Bank Hours and Rate
- Bank hours: Monday – Sunday, night shift 19:30 – 07:30
- Hourly rate: £25.68 per night

Main Responsibilities
- Work within a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions.
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients and undertake reception screening.
- Deliver nurse‑led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision – provide outstanding evidence‑based care, seek out and act on patient feedback to personalise care.
- Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference, as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice competency framework.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse – Adult, NMC registration
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Understanding of the complexities of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
- A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
- Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, evidence‑based practice, and national standards
Experience
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential.
Additional Criteria
- Experience of lone working in a secure environment is desirable.
