We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Lewes, a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.

Hours

Working 24 hours a week, shifts are 9am-10pm, 1 hour for lunch, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This position is part-time, you will receive an annual salary up to £52,507 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patients' care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment
