Are you an experienced HCPC registered Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist looking for a new or additional role with career development opportunities? Have you ever thought about working within a prison environment, helping to rehabilitate and support offenders to live decent and purposeful lives as a member of the community? This role is part time working 24 hours per month at HMP Millsike, a new, all-electric resettlement prison in Full Sutton, Yorkshire. You will be responsible for assessing and treating a range of MSK pathologies with some complex and/or chronic presentations. You will need to demonstrate advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills, be able to work within the MDT and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
This is your opportunity to work as part of a forward thinking, innovative health care team, including GPs, nurses, pharmacists, podiatrists and mental health professionals, delivering high quality, best practice treatment. You will also form part of the wider MSK Health in Justice Team comprising of physiotherapists and podiatrists in immigration centres and prisons across the country.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide outstanding evidence-based care, listening and acting on patient feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients, focusing on both planned and unplanned care.
- Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
- Playing an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
- Inspire excellence in your colleagues by being pro-active in the management of MSK conditions and motivating the wider team to identify patients presenting with red flag symptoms.
- You will forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider prison service.
- Promote best practice, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement embedding a culture of reflection and shared learning.
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care supporting your clinical and non-clinical colleagues to do a great job.
- Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner.
- You will be closely supported and mentored by our Clinical Lead, and this combined with our well-developed appraisal system, in-service training and funding for external clinical courses, you will be provided with an excellent supportive learning environment to continue your professional development.
What we’ll look for in you:
- As a HCPC registered physiotherapist, with proven post-registration experience of assessing and treating MSK conditions in an outpatient setting, you will also have:
- Experience in assessing and treating some complex and/or chronic presentations.
- Demonstrable advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Ability to work within the MDT and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop.
- CSP member – desirable.
- Experience of NHS work and knowledge of national pathways – desirable.
- Knowledge of Systm1 – desirable.
