We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. HMP Leeds is a remand prison with a fast‑paced healthcare department that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Within this role you will be working on evening receptions supporting the intake of new patients, requiring support with same‑day medications, acute needs and substance misuse withdrawal plans.
Hours: Monday and Tuesday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Salary: This position is part‑time. You’ll receive an annual salary up to £129,500 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, with opportunities to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t normally experience within a practice or even an A&E environment.
- Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients’ requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
- Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at the site, and involve patients actively in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required:
- MBChB or MBBS
- Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
- Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
- Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
- RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
