We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Leeds, a category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. HMP Leeds is a remand prison with a fast‑paced healthcare department that provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Within this role you will be working on evening receptions supporting the intake of new patients, requiring support with same‑day medications, acute needs and substance misuse withdrawal plans. Hours Monday and Tuesday 5pm-9pm. This position is part time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £129,500 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, and therefore as a General Practitioner at Practice Plus Group you get the opportunity to further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice, or even A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, as well as the patients you work with having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Qualifications required

  • MBChB or MBBS inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
  • Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
  • Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
  • RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
