About The Role

UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE

+MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR EVERY PATIENT

Are you an experienced Recovery Practitioner looking for flexible working opportunities within a fast-paced and rewarding surgical environment? We are looking for a Bank Recovery Practitioner to join our Theatre team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams, delivering high-quality post-operative care and supporting patients throughout their surgical journey.

As our Bank Recovery Practitioner, you'll provide expert care to patients throughout the perioperative pathway, with a particular focus on post-operative recovery and patient safety. Working closely with Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Theatre Practitioners and Ward teams, you'll assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to ensure the highest standards are maintained at all times.

You’ll be responsible for monitoring patients recovering from a range of surgical procedures and anaesthetic techniques, ensuring they are safe, comfortable and ready for discharge or transfer to the ward.

This role is offered on a bank (0-hour) contract. There are no guaranteed hours, and shifts will be offered depending on business needs. You can accept or decline shifts based on your availability, making this a flexible option—but it may not be suitable if you are seeking consistent or full-time hours.

What you'll be doing

As our Bank Recovery Practitioner, you will be:

  • Delivering safe, high-quality care to patients following surgery and anaesthesia.
  • Monitoring patient observations and recognising any deterioration in condition.
  • Receiving patients from theatre and undertaking comprehensive recovery assessments.
  • Administering and monitoring post-operative pain relief following appropriate training.
  • Supporting discharge planning and ensuring patients are appropriately prepared for discharge or transfer.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records and documentation.
  • Ensuring emergency equipment, stock and consumables are available and fit for purpose.
  • Participating in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues and students where appropriate.
  • Working flexibly across the perioperative environment to support service delivery.

What we’ll look for in you

As a Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner, you will be:

  • NMC registration where applicable.
  • ENB 176/183 or equivalent post-operative surgical care experience.
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) training.
  • Recent experience within an acute hospital environment.
  • Experience caring for patients in the recovery setting following surgery.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively and remain calm under pressure.
  • ALS and MEWS training - desirable.
  • Previous pre-assessment experience - desirable.

What you can expect in return;

  • A bank rate of £26.03 per hour
  • Flexible shifts to suit your availability
  • Opportunity to work within a high performing clinical team
  • Supportive working environment focused on quality patient care
  • The chance to make a real difference to patients and colleagues alike
