We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Primary Care / Substance Misuse team at HMP The Mount, a category C Prison located in Bovingdon. HMP The Mount is a male prison with a capacity for 1050 inmates. This is a new role within the prison with the purpose of supporting patients that have substance abuse needs and to provide support to the wider healthcare team. The site offers free parking and an on-site gym to use. The prison has good public transport links and is close to M1.
Job summary
- Hours: Monday - Friday 07:45 - 16:45
- Salary: This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £33,510 per annum (FTE – depending on experience).

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
- Support patients identified as having needs associated with drug and/or alcohol use.
- Support patients at all stages of the patient journey, delivering the support they need, promoting good health and supporting resettlement.
- Be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing the wealth of experience you have in your subject field.
- Work with other members of the team that you are part of, assessing needs of patients and assessing risks accordingly.
- Provide outstanding evidence-based care to a case load of psycho-social patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
- Provide a programme of psycho-social interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.

Requirements
- Evidence of CPD
- Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience as SMS Recovery Worker
- Knowledge and experience in the provision of structured psycho-social interventions
- Experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, that includes housing, social care, healthcare, and mental health pathways
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Ability to work within a busy environment
