HMP Bullingdon is a Category B male remand and resettlement prison near Bicester. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Support Worker to join our team. This role offers a varied environment where you will gain experience across all pathways – primary care, mental health, substance misuse, emergency response, wings, clinics, health promotion, and more.

Hours

This is a full-time role, averaging 37.5 hours per week with a variety of shifts between Monday and Sunday. The role involves working weekends and nights. Shift patterns: 07:30-17:30, 07:30-19:30, 19:30-07:30.

Salary

Annual salary £27,543 – £31,789 per annum, depending on experience. For this vacancy only we are introducing a 'Golden Hello'. Joining bonus: 6 months £500; 12 months £1,000; 24 months £1,000.

Legal

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

  • Work across primary care, including clinics, health promotion, blood tests, observations, wound care, etc.
  • Carry out induction duties, reviewing new patients to the prison and assessing, including observations, urine samples, etc.
  • Work within Early Days in Custody.
  • Work within substance misuse and inpatients.
  • Be involved in bloods and vaccination clinics.
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times.
  • Contribute to and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics.

Our New Healthcare Assistant Will

  • Ideally hold a NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Healthcare.
  • Have experience in a care setting previously – ideally from a hospital or prison setting, experience within A&E would be beneficial.
  • Any experience in a prison/secure setting or hospital would be a bonus!
