We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Lancaster Farms, a category C Prison located on the outskirts of Lancaster, Lancashire. HMP Lancaster Farm consists of 550 males.

Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 9am - 5pm
  • One weekend every 6-8 weeks

Salary: This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Legal right to work & Vetting: Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
  • Assess patient health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess with sound clinical knowledge
  • Work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a caseload of patients
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job

Qualifications Required:

  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
  • Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
