About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Planned Care Clinical Lead to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton, a category C Prison located in London.

Hours

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours a week.

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £63,199 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you’ll be doing

As a Planned Care Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

• Lead a team of healthcare practitioners in specialist roles to deliver an effective safe medical service within the prison.
• Ensure patients have medical plans of care.
• Function autonomously and within your sphere of competency, demonstrating effective team leadership.
• Manage a team of healthcare practitioners.
• Support the Matron in undertaking audits and governance.
• Be responsible for appraising the team.
• Deputise for the Matron when asked.
• Assess patients, carry out relevant clinical investigations, and arrange follow-up appointments whilst offering advice and giving information.
• Have an adaptive communication style that enables effective communication with the senior clinical team, the prison staff and external stakeholders.
• Clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making.

Qualifications required

• Registered nurse – Adult, Mental Health, or Paramedic
• Current professional qualification (NMC or HCPC)
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
• Understanding of audit and datix
