We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy team at HMP Bullingdon, a category B prison located in Oxfordshire. HMP Bullingdon is a busy male prison with a capacity of around 1100 inmates. This role supports the pharmacy team with dispensing, labeling, date checking, assisting colleagues with queries, and stock checking. It is a patient-facing role on occasions.
Job summary
- Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 to 16:30
- No weekends, no bank holidays
- Salary: This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
- Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
- Be an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
- Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
- Receive prescriptions and handle returns from wing-based clinical areas
- Collect orders from suppliers at the Main Gate and arrange collection of returns
- Participate in dispensing of prescriptions
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills
- Medicines handling experience desirable, not essential
- Level 2 English and Math or equivalent
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills and IT literacy
- Ability to work within a busy environment
- Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
