What you’ll be doing
You will be working as part of a friendly, welcoming and expert multidisciplinary Theatre Team supported by our experienced Theatre Manager, Sarah. It goes without saying privacy and confidentiality are key throughout the team and you will act as an advocate for the patient in the intra-operative phase and be responsible for “total patient” care in the perioperative phase.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- To be responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of the theatre and equipment, in between, and after the daily theatre cases.
- To participate in the management of infection control within the department.
- To be responsible for the “total patient” in your care during the peri-operative phase.
- To act as the advocate for the patient during the intra-operative phase and understand the patient depending on the theatre staff for:
- maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- preventing injuries
- preventing sepsis
What we’ll look for in you
You will be a part 1 registered NMC Nurse or an HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner and it is essential that you have previous experience in major orthopaedics. As well as being up to date with current research and developments in theatre practice you will have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety/Risk management within the operating department.
