Overview
We have an exciting development opportunity for a Preceptorship Psychologist to join our integrated Mental Healthcare team at HMP Ford. HMP Ford is a category D prison that houses around 544 patients, aged 21 plus. The role would be suitable for a newly qualified (with preceptorship) or experienced Psychologist familiar with working with adult mental health presentations, neurodiversity and complex trauma. The applicant must be familiar with trauma informed practice and trained in at least one trauma specific intervention. The applicant will be part of the Integrated Mental Health Team and will be an integral part of the clinical leadership team supporting the development of the psychological therapies service.

2.5 days per week 8am-4pm, we can offer some flexibility with hours
Salary
This position is a part time position offering up to Β£65,268 per annum FTE β depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a qualified, HCPC registered Psychologist, your responsibilities will vary. You will
- Offer clinical support and oversight to the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT) in the form of training
- Undertake psychological assessments and support complex multi-disciplinary formulations
- Deliver and oversee the delivery of 1:1 psychological interventions and group intervention as part of the Trauma Informed \βMaking Sense\β Programme
- Deliver teaching and training to healthcare and prison staff where required
- Contribute to the development of audit, service evaluation and research profile as appropriate

Job responsibilities
This role includes conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, providing therapeutic interventions, developing individualized treatment plans, and supporting the embedding of a Trauma-Informed approach to patient care. By collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare and prison colleagues, this role will contribute to the overall wellbeing of men in prison, support their emotional resilience during this transitional period, and facilitate access to necessary resources and support systems to promote better outcomes both during incarceration and post-release.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical β
- Identify patients who may benefit from psychological intervention, following mental health triages and in discussion with the MDT and, where demand exceeds capacity, prioritise according to clinical need, risk presentation and release planning in line with agreed service policy;
- Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, including risk assessment, and develop psychological formulations to support patients and other members of the MDT in making sense of their difficulties; contribute, where appropriate, to Mother & Baby board reviews;
- Identify and deliver appropriate individual and group interventions to patients in line with the Psychological Therapies Service (PTS) pathways;
- To monitor and evaluate psychological interventions using appropriate measures;
- To maintain accurate clinical records and keep the PTS dashboard up to date with outcomes data for patient/service and staff outcomes;
- To communicate highly complex information concerning assessment, formulation and intervention plans to patients, professional colleagues and external agencies, as appropriate;
- Manage resources appropriately.
- Identify and provide opportunities for other MDT members to gain understanding of how psychological knowledge can support their work, through developing psychological formulations with team members, participating in MDT meetings and decision making or other opportunities for providing consultancy and advice;
Teaching, training and supervision
- Provide regular reflective practice sessions to the mental health team and other ad-hoc opportunities for reflection on practice, including individual or group debriefing following incidents;
- Provide training to other MDT members in the delivery of trauma and psychologically informed care and treatment;
- Contribute to CPD and peer supervision within the wider PTS team;
- Receive regular clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified supervisor, in accordance with guidelines.
