Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Sudbury, a category D prison, located in Ashbourne, East Midlands. HMP Sudbury is an adult male prison with a population of 661. You will be based in a team of 10 within the Primary Care Team and based in the main healthcare department. Hours: part-time 18.5 hours per week, Monday – Sunday.

Working pattern

  • Monday – Friday: 7.30am – 6pm (8pm finish on a Thursday)
  • Saturday – Sunday: 7.30am – 5pm
  • There is an expectation to work 1 in 3 weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
  • Deliver nurse-led clinics to your patient group with support from a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide outstanding evidence-based care, seek out and respond to patient feedback to ensure care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference.
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications and experience

  • Registered nurse – Adult (Current professional qualification with the NMC).
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • A non-judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in hospital, community or prison environments is desirable.
  • Enhanced Clinical Practitioner L6 or L7, and Advanced Clinical Practitioner L7 (includes NMP).

Salary: Β£33,232 – Β£40,211 per annum FTE, pro rata to 16 hours per week, depending on experience.
