We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at HMP YOI Moorland, a Category C male adult and young offenders prison based near Hatfield, with operational capacity of around 1100. As our new Pharmacy Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary.
Responsibilities
- Support the onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
- Work from the medication rooms on the wings
- Second check medication before dispensing to patients on medication rounds
- Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
- Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
- Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals - primary care, substance misuse and mental health

Hours
This is a full time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week. You will work 4 days out of 7, with 3 x 9.5 hour days, and 1 x 9 hour, with alternate weekends. Shifts are 07:30 - 17:30 and 07:30 - 17:00.
Candidate profile / Qualifications
- No experience is necessary – we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Pharmacy, and keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare within a prison
- An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but isn’t essential
- Ideally have medicines handling experience, although not essential
- Have a proactive approach, with excellent communication skills
