We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Primary Care team at HMP Fosse Way, a category C Prison located in Glen Parva, Leicestershire. HMP Fosse Way is a state-of-the-art, resettlement prison designed to prioritise the rehabilitation of residents. It provides skills and qualifications to the men, enabling them to secure meaningful employment on release with the aim of reducing reoffending rates.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday & Friday - 08:00 - 16:30; 24 hours or 6 sessions per week. Flexibility can be offered on the number of sessions worked.

Our General Practitioners are extremely valued and are well respected members of the Prison Healthcare community.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients, with opportunities to develop knowledge in areas not typically experienced within a practice or A&E environment.
  • Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management.
  • Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, and work with patients having active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List; evidence of engagement with annual appraisal; experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice; evidence of continuing professional development; ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse; RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications.
