We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health team at HMP Askham Grange. HMP Askham Grange is an open category D female prison based in Askham Richard, near York, housing around 120 women. You will be joining an established and experienced team, supporting women aged 18 plus; the site also includes a mother and baby unit. This role has a low volume of patients requiring Psychiatrist support which will enable you to provide consistent and high quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite.
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications

  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
  • Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.

Role details

  • 1 day per month/8 hours to be worked between Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm.
  • Salary: This position is a part-time role; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £196,736 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

  • You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant’s meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
  • Competency framework.
