Are you passionate about creating high-quality, nutritious meals in a professional and caring environment? We are looking for a talented and flexible Chef to join our Bank catering team at Practice Plus Group Hospital. You will work closely with our Head Chef and wider catering team to deliver exceptional food service to patients, visitors, and staff, supporting our commitment to high standards of care, hygiene and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the hospital kitchen, including food preparation and presentation.
- Supporting the Head Chef in delivering creative and nutritious menus that meet a range of dietary requirements.
- Ensuring food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed across all catering activities.
- Helping manage stock levels and maintaining a clean, well-organised kitchen.
- Working with the team to minimise waste, optimise portion control, and ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- Supporting with staff supervision and stepping into leadership responsibilities when the Head Chef is absent.
- Contributing to audits, health and safety compliance, and infection prevention procedures in the catering environment.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 in a catering discipline or City & Guilds 204/205/206 Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience preparing meals in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
- Understanding of stock management, special dietary needs, and kitchen hygiene standards.
- The ability to prioritise workload, use initiative, and remain calm under pressure.
- A positive, flexible attitude and excellent team-working skills.
- Experience in a healthcare or similar setting desirable.
- Supervisory experience and/or an advanced food hygiene certificate - desirable.
