This is a full‑time, on‑site Health and Safety Manager role based on sites nationally and remotely. The Health and Safety Manager will oversee health and safety practices across solar installation and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and updating health and safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, method statements, and performing regular site inspections and audits. The role involves delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and induction programs, as well as investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommending corrective actions. The Health and Safety Manager will collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and technicians to embed a proactive safety culture and support continuous improvement in safety performance and reporting. The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for the renewal of accreditations and contract reviews.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS), with practical experience applying safety standards in construction, engineering, or renewable energy environments.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health principles, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of preventive measures.
- Experience delivering Safety Training, toolbox talks, and inductions to diverse on‑site teams, with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
- Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH (or equivalent) and familiarity with applicable health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain safety documentation, policies, and procedures, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviours and foster a culture of accountability.
- Previous experience in renewable energy, solar installation, or construction environments is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency in using standard office and reporting software for audits, incident reporting, and safety performance tracking.
