Our client, a leading provider of machine control and survey technology, is seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead their Machine Control Department in Derby. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will take full responsibility for depot performance, working with the technical support team, hire & sales, service, logistics, and equipment preparation. This is a hands‑on leadership role within a specialist and fast‑evolving technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Machine Control depot team, supporting all technical support staff, engineers, and coordinators.
  • Work with the technical support team to ensure customer satisfaction and help resolve issues as they arise.
  • Oversee preparation, configuration, testing, and calibration of machine control equipment prior to dispatch.
  • Ensure all customer enquiries and technical issues are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate installations, support visits, and resource planning for engineers and field staff.
  • Drive revenue through effective utilisation of equipment, upselling services, and managing customer subscriptions.
  • Oversee hire contracts, service activity, and billing accuracy, ensuring all chargeable elements are captured.
  • Ensure strong communication between departments including sales, logistics, accounts, and procurement.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service, building long‑term relationships with clients.
  • Monitor and manage VOR situations, ensuring clear communication and minimal downtime for customers.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health & safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce reports and track performance against operational and financial targets.
