At PPRO, our mission is to simplify access to local payment methods and our vision is to enable the sale of goods and services to anyone in the world using their preferred way to pay. We empower partners such as Ant Group, PayPal and Stripe to access new markets, connect with more customers, and accelerate their growth. Our strength lies in our diverse global team with 50+ nationalities and 10+ international locations, all united around one goal – to deliver the best possible products and services to our partners and customers.
The Purpose: As a Strategy Manager, New Bets at PPRO, you will play a critical role in identifying, validating, and executing new growth initiatives across the business. This is a hands-on, execution-first role for a senior operator who thrives in ambiguity and is comfortable owning outcomes. You will initially work across several high-priority initiatives that have already been mapped out, helping drive them from concept through execution. Over time, you will transition into single-threaded ownership of a defined area, acting as the business owner with clear accountability for results. You will report directly to the Chief of Staff to the CEO and work closely with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Risk, and Legal to turn strategic intent into tangible business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- New Bets Ownership & Execution: Act as the business owner for new bets, driving initiatives end-to-end from early validation through execution and scaling. Translate strategic hypotheses into concrete plans, milestones, and delivery. Own success metrics for your initiatives and ensure they deliver measurable business outcomes. Identify risks and dependencies early, and work pragmatically to resolve them.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Work hands-on with Product, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Risk, and Legal teams to drive progress. Influence senior stakeholders without formal authority and align teams around clear goals and priorities. Maintain momentum across complex, cross-functional initiatives operating in ambiguous environments.
- Commercial & Strategic Problem Solving: Build and iterate on business cases, operating models, and execution plans for new bets. Assess trade-offs across growth, complexity, risk, and scalability. Support decision-making with structured analysis and clear recommendations.
- Operating Rhythm & Communication: Provide clear, structured updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes. Build concise, executive-ready materials that simplify complex topics and enable fast decisions. Help establish repeatable ways of working for how new bets are evaluated, executed, and scaled.
You’ll Need to Have:
- 6-8+ years of experience in execution-heavy roles within fast-moving environments.
- Strong preference for experience in payments, fintech, or adjacent regulated industries.
- Background in roles such as Strategy & Operations, Business Operations, Expansion, New Products, or similar.
- Proven track record of taking ambiguous initiatives from idea to execution and measurable outcomes.
- Strong commercial judgment and analytical capability.
- Ability to operate independently with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to structure and convey complex ideas clearly.
- A strong bias toward action and delivery over analysis for its own sake.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Direct experience launching or scaling new products, markets, or business lines.
- Exposure to regulated environments and working closely with Risk, Legal, or Compliance teams.
- Experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams on delivery.
- Familiarity with building lightweight governance models for complex initiatives.
What’s in it for you?
- Direct exposure to PPRO’s executive leadership and involvement in some of the company’s highest-priority growth initiatives.
- Real ownership and accountability for shaping and executing new bets.
- Opportunity to evolve into single-threaded ownership of a defined business area.
Hybrid working: We offer a hybrid structure with a 3 days/week on-site expectation, so you can strike the balance between office and home working. In addition to our 28-day holiday allowance, we also provide a work from abroad policy, enabling employees to work remotely for up to another 30 days per year.
Learning and Development: We offer a GBP 1,000 annual budget to support your professional growth—because investing in your development benefits us all. In addition, we provide leadership cafés, on-the-job training, and other opportunities to help you grow your skills and thrive in your role.
Insurance: We want our employees to benefit from various insurances including a medical insurance (BUPA health care plan) and a 5% matching pension plan through Now Pensions.
Enhanced Family Leave: We understand the importance of family - that’s why we offer enhanced family leave to support you during key life moments.
Workplace Nursery Scheme: Save on childcare through salary exchange.
Gym membership: PPRO helps contribute towards the costs of your gym membership, supporting your physical fitness journey while easing the burden on your wallet.
Mental Health Platform: We’ve teamed up with a top well-being platform to provide one-on-one therapy, chat therapy, therapist-led courses, guided meditations, and more.
Our HQ office on Procter Street is a short walk from Holborn, Farringdon and Covent Garden, so if you’re a foodie there’s plenty nearby. The office is befitting a tech business and is set up for cross-team collaboration. It is also a pet-friendly office.
