Team Manager Social WorkerLocalityLocation: North YorkshirePay rate:  £40 per hourWe are looking for experienced and passionate Team Manger to lead a team of  Social Workers within Childrens Social Services. West locality social work team as a Team Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of social workers and providing day to day support, supervision and case oversight.The role will manage a team of Social Workers (and other staff) within a social care service and a wider Children, Young People and Families Directorate. The key purpose of the role is to ensure high quality social work practice which achieves the best possible outcomes (and progress) for children and young people in need of social work support, assessment and intervention. The post of Team Manager will ensure that standards of practice are high and that quality, including the delivery of evidenced based systemic practice, is a consistent focus for the whole team.Importantly, the Team Manager role will model key elements of Systemic Practice including:
  • A strengths and relationship based approach
  • Different perspectives and collaboration
  • Family & Goal orientated plans which are SMART
  • The value of systemic tools such as; genograms

Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professional knowledge and experience you’ll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significant Social Work experience and excellent communication skills you’ll establish and maintain relationships with service users and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.You’ll be committed to ensure positive and sustainable results of your interventions. Using best practice, you’ll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly however, you’ll have a passion for supporting children and their families to ensure that they thrive and flourish. Our priority is to protect the most vulnerable and to be as efficient as possible.Perfect candidate will be:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.
  • Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • 4 Years plus Qualified

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the performance and practice of the team
  • Prioritise the quality of practice balanced alongside a focus on a set of agreed performance measures, based on statutory and inspection requirements.
  • Drive key service and directorate wide priorities and ensure that the team is fully informed and engaged within its wider context – a directorate, a council and a wider partnership. lead and drive key aspects of partnership working. The role will work in partnership with colleagues, parents and carers to ensure that child centred, purposeful systemic practice is the standard for all social work and related practice. Team Managers will routinely seek feedback from children, young people and families through Quality Assurance work, learning from complaints and compliments received.
  • Set a tone which listens and values user feedback, whilst ensuring that feedback is shared and escalated when appropriate, in order to influence service design and improvement.
  • Understand, and present to their teams, a set of statutory requirements which apply to the whole social care system. In addition, Team Managers will have a higher level of understanding and directly manage a set of statutory requirements which specifically relate to the service area in which they work.
  • Provide regular formal and individual supervision for all team members. The two key elements of supervision will be; case supervision and individual supervison. Team Managers will prioritise the supervison of staff and follow the local supervision policy.
