We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Assessment Officer (0β25) to join Newham's statutory SEND service. In this role, you will lead on Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments from initial referral through to the issuing of the final Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will work collaboratively with families, schools, colleges, health professionals, and other agencies to deliver high-quality, person-centred assessments in line with statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of EHC needs assessments from referral through to final EHCP.
- Coordinate advice from education, health, and social care professionals.
- Ensure statutory timescales are consistently met.
- Produce high-quality, legally compliant EHCP documentation.
- Liaise with parents, carers, education settings, and partner agencies throughout the assessment process.
- Review evidence and confidently challenge where information is insufficient or unclear.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with SEND legislation and local procedures.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar role is essential.
