Job Description
- Coordinating Mental Health Act assessments and ensuring they follow least restrictive and participatory principles
- Responding to emergency duty referrals outside normal hours, including weekends and bank holidays
- Assessing and authorising hospital admissions, Community Treatment Orders, and Guardianship requests
- Managing complex safeguarding issues and mental health crises in a person-centred and trauma-informed manner
- Applying professional judgment to balance positive risk-taking and immediate safety needs
- Supporting individuals with alternative care options and least restrictive pathways wherever possible
- Leading statutory interventions, offering clear decision-making in high-pressure scenarios
- Collaborating with mental health teams, crisis services, and medical professionals to gatekeep hospital admissions
- Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England
- Hold AMHP status (essential)
- Post-qualified experience in mental health and complex case management
- Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
- Able to work flexibly including out-of-hours, weekends, and public holidays
- Skilled in conflict resolution, safeguarding, and multi-agency collaboration
