Pertemps Social Care are supporting London Borough of Harrow Council by recruiting Adult Social Care Social Workers to work within adults community social work.

Role Purpose

To provide a high quality and effective social work service, which responds to the needs of people with lived experiences with care and support needs, their informal carers and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. All assessments and support plans will be completed in accordance with the wellbeing principles of the Care Act 2014 and reflects a strengths-based approach. Guidance, support, and supervision will be provided in accordance with the individual’s experience and capabilities and in line with our Supervision Policy.

Role Summary

Harrow’s Adult Social Care Social Worker role provides an opportunity for newly qualified social workers to undertake their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) within our adult service, which is committed to providing high-quality support, assessment and intervention with the residents, carers, and families we work with. Harrow provides wide-ranging training and development opportunities, which will help you to develop excellent social work practice, leading to career advancement at your own pace. Newly qualified social workers will enter the workforce at Grade 9, undertake their work with support, close supervision and guidance, and will have a reduced caseload. Upon successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme, Social Workers will progress through the Grade 9 pay scale and will work with an increased caseload following the completion of the ASYE Programme.

  • Demonstrable ability to work with people with lived experiences, recognising the council’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy.
  • Completion of strengths-based Care Act and Mental Capacity assessments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritise work under pressure, adapt their priorities to changes in demand and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Completion of person-centred support plans that reflect the expressed wishes of people with lived experiences, and/or their advocates.
  • Contribute to the prevention of risk of harm to maximise the safety and wellbeing of people with lived experiences.

Main Duties, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Role requirements (Essential and Desirable)

  • Must hold a qualification in social work - Essential
  • Good demonstrable understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards - Essential
  • Have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) - Essential
  • Knowledge of social work models and interventions including strengths based practice models - Desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of discriminated groups and the ability to ensure that services are appropriately delivered to meet their needs - Desirable

The G10 Social Worker is expected to fulfil the criteria above and the one below.

  • Good demonstrable understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards - Essential

Qualifications Role Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience - Essential
  • Practice Educator and/or Best Interest Assessor qualification(s) - Desirable
