The Company
Our client is an established and highly respected commercial fit-out contractor with over 50 years of experience delivering high-quality projects across the UK. Working across retail, hospitality, hotels, leisure, offices and specialist joinery, their portfolio includes projects for major brands and organisations including retail, automotive, high street, hotels, car showrooms, restaurants and luxury spa brands. The company has developed a strong reputation for quality, attention to detail and client relationships, with a significant proportion of its workforce having been with the business for 10 years or more.
The Role
Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. You will be responsible for the commercial management of a range of commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects, typically ranging from several hundred thousand pounds to £4m+. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants genuine responsibility for projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of multiple fit-out and refurbishment projects.
- Prepare and review project budgets, cost plans and forecasts.
- Manage procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and issue subcontract enquiries and negotiate quotations.
- Review subcontractor applications, valuations and payment notices.
- Manage variations, change control and contractual notices.
- Monitor project costs, margins and commercial performance.
- Prepare monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting and cost-to-complete.
- Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to maintain commercial control.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and negotiate final accounts.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support the pre-construction team with estimating, tenders and pricing when required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or commercial fit-out.
- Experience managing projects from £500k to £4m+.
- Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and commercial management.
- Experience with valuations, variations, CVRs, forecasting and final accounts.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- A proactive and collaborative approach.
Experience within retail, hospitality, leisure, hotel, office fit-out or refurbishment would be particularly advantageous.
