Excellent opportunity to join a leading specialist contractor working with their commercial team and play a key role in driving project profitability through refurbishment works. We are looking for a commercially minded individual to analyse costs versus income, prepare valuations and payment applications, manage variations, and optimise contract terms to protect margin, cash flow, and risk. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Estimator with a construction background who is confident working with numbers, navigating sites, and engaging with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Support senior estimators with quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost records, and project files.
- Attend site visits (as required) to collect relevant data.
- Learn company estimating software, systems, and methods.
Essential:
- Genuine interest in construction, quantity surveying, or estimating.
- Strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and develop professionally.
Requirements:
- HND/HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction/Commercial Management (or near completion).
- 1-2+ years' experience in an Estimating/QS/Assistant QS role within construction.
- CSCS card.
- (Desirable) Full UK driving licence.
