About the Team

The Communications team works to develop PPL’s external profile and cultivate the effectiveness of our member messaging and helps to create a positive and engaging internal culture where our people feel well-informed.

What you’ll be doing:

At PPL, improving the experience of our people and members sits at the heart of everything we do. The Communications Manager will work with the Senior People Communications Manager and senior stakeholders across the business to plan and deliver engaging, clear and inclusive internal and member communications. You will be responsible for creating a wide range of materials, gathering stories and updates from colleagues, supporting teams to create effective communication plans and copy for use across multiple channels. This role is hands‐on and delivery‐focused, requiring strong writing skills, sound judgement and the confidence to advise colleagues on effective communication approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and distribution of key member communications, ensuring content is clear, relevant and focused on improving the member experience
  • Work closely with subject-matter experts to shape messages that help deliver value to members and support PPL’s goals
  • Plan and coordinate internal campaigns and initiatives, including leadership updates, wellbeing activity and people programmes, ensuring consistent messaging and effective cadence
  • Manage the delivery of internal communications across channels including email, intranet, Teams and live events, putting clarity and colleague experience first
  • Own the internal communications plan and calendar, prioritising work, managing dependencies and ensuring communications are timely, accurate and aligned with organisational priorities
  • Collaborate across teams to highlight stories that link daily work to PPL’s mission, and ensure messaging consistency across internal and external channels
  • Measure the effectiveness of both member and internal communications activities using insight to continually improve communications and demonstrate impact

About You

Key Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in a communications role (internal, corporate, employee or member communications)
  • Proven ability to take ownership of end-to-end communications delivery, working independently and through others (e.g. agencies, SMEs, project teams) to achieve outcomes
  • Sets high standards and has excellent written communication skills and attention to detail, acting with integrity, accountability and sound judgement
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with experience managing a communications calendar, multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines
  • Experience in a people-focused, membership or values-led organisation, with an understanding of the needs of varied audiences
  • Inclusive, open and straightforward, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence decisions
  • Collaborative and proactive, with a hands-on approach and a commitment to building strong working relationships
