Senior External Communications Manager – PPL
Hybrid working role (between remote and office based) with a minimum 3 days in the London office.
Overview
PPL is seeking a Senior External Communications Manager to enhance the organisation’s profile and reputation in the UK and internationally. The role focuses on delivering a regular drumbeat of media coverage and managing media relations in support of PPL’s strategic objectives.
What you’ll be doing
You will work with the Director of Communications to develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy spanning earned, owned and paid channels, leading on delivery in earned. Internal relationships will include the Events, Legal, Broadcast, International and Member Services teams, as well as the Executive Leadership Team.
- Own and maintain a proactive PR plan that delivers against the communications strategy
- Proactively seek out stories from within the organisation and land a regular drumbeat of coverage on key focus areas across trade and mainstream platforms
- Identify new spokespeople from across the organisation and support them to develop and land thought leadership narratives against PPL objectives
- Prepare spokespeople for public engagements - interviews, panels, roundtables, keynotes, etc.
- Monitor and report on coverage
- Own and manage an issues and crisis register and plan and be prepared to activate it
- Draft and maintain positioning briefings/lines for panel speakers
- Manage media monitoring platforms and associated licenses
- Own the trade advertising calendar including commissioning content
- Manage the Content Manager on owned channels as part of the integrated strategy – planning, content creation and digital execution
