About the Team
PPL’s Technology team is constantly evolving and challenging what they do so we can remain the best at what we do. They aim to find new ways of working and stretch their capabilities to do great things. Being a part of Technology at PPL requires a passion for technology and developing new skills. The team has core areas which include Development, Operations, Support and Projects.
What you will be doing
The Salesforce Engineer role sits within the Technology function and reports to the Senior Salesforce Engineer. The role will involve working co-operatively and consultatively with a number of business stakeholders including the Member Services, International, Music Reporting, Distribution and Finance teams. A close relationship with other parts of the Technology department will also be essential to the success of this role.
This role requires a self-motivated Salesforce evangelist combining not only great technical skills with a can-do attitude, flexible approach but also with a strong customer service focus. This role will champion the use Salesforce within PPL and work on PPL’s in-house, highly customised Salesforce.com application that is used by internal business teams and our members using Lightning components, configuration changes, data management, Visual force, APEX and associated web technologies. AI Technology increasingly becoming important, both as part of the solutions themselves but also improvements in the SDLC process used to build those solutions. All of this with an environment of source-controlled code with automated delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Define technical specifications
- Produce documentation in a manner that allows other developers to operate and maintain the systems being supported, developed or enhanced
- Undertake detailed analysis and document detailed specifications in a clear, concise and structured way in accordance with agreed standards
- Maintain thorough understanding of current and future business systems needs
- Act as the focal point for discussions about new solution requirements between the business and the rest of IT
- Build a deep and accurate understanding of how the business operates – departmental structure, functions, processes, procedures and current application functionality
- Work in partnership with key business users, identifying potential ways of improving the efficiency and/or effectiveness of current technical solutions
- Systems and applications development, support and deployment
- Document, review and follow structured processes and procedures, including configuration management, version control, coding, testing and documentation standards, highlighting opportunities for improvements
- Ensure that business change requirements are highlighted to stakeholders and key business users, and that suggestions are put forward to address this
- Prepare test scripts and test data, execute unit and system testing, and undertake deployment planning
- Research and suggest new tools and techniques that can be utilised in solutions
- Strongly represent the interests of business users by providing effective solutions in accordance with approved specifications and established standards and helping keep work focussed on meeting business needs and realising business benefits
- Be a great technical SME in Salesforce and champion use of the platform to meet requirements
- Use Salesforce capabilities appropriately, declarative and configuration over customisation where possible and appropriate
- Look for opportunities to enhance how we use Salesforce and maximise our investment in the platform
